6 Small Changes That Make a Big Impact on Your Social Media

You get it – you need to do social media for your business.

You’ve read tons of articles on how to set up and manage your social media. And they all say the same thing: getting results from social media takes time.

But time is the one thing you don’t have much of when you’re running a business.

That’s why we’ve created a list of small changes you can make right now to make a big difference to your social media results.

Let’s dive in:

1.   Fill in the gaps on your profile

Are there gaps in your profiles? Take a minute to check each social media profile and make sure all the fields are filled in.

Why?

Because with a complete profile, your customers, the social media platform, and even Google will look at your business more favourably.

And profile descriptions – we know it can be tedious, but it’s well worth spending some time on this section.

Aside from the profile picture, it’s the first thing people will see when they visit your social media page. So explain clearly what you or your brand does, and what people can expect to see when they follow you.


2.   Use the same profile image on every network

While you’re editing your profile, make sure the profile picture is consistent with all your other networks. Even if it is a logo.

So, whether people see your brand on LinkedIn, Instagram or Facebook, they’ll instantly recognise it’s you.


3.   Pin your best content

Your pinned posts are the first things people see when looking you up. Pinned post’s stay at the top, no matter what you’ve posted since.

Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter allow you to pin posts.

But why would you do it?

There are a few reasons:

  • To showcase your best work

  • To promote an offer or upcoming event, so it’s the first thing people see

  • To answer an FAQ


4.   Promote less, communicate more

Your social media audiences are not looking for a sales pitch. They want to see content that will either:

  • Inspire them

  • Educate them

  • Solve a problem

  • Improve their lives

You’re not expected to do all of these in one post – but aim to tick one box each time.

Of course you can slide in a promotional post every now and again, but the lion’s share of content should be dedicated to engaging your audience.

Think about what makes you stop scrolling.


5.   Respond to comments

Generating posts that encourage comments can do wonders for your engagement, and answering those comments will see your trust and loyalty soar.

Better still, lots of interactions on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram posts will look good to the algorithms so your content reaches more people.


6.   Automate your posts

Staying active on social media takes time and dedication. The algorithms reward consistency. But that doesn’t mean you have to be on it 24 hours a day.

There are plenty of automation tools available to let you automatically publish and schedule posts way in advance. So when you have some time spare, you can plan and line up a week of posts.
